Literature (@Catharsis full details)

Dr. Rafael S. Garcia-Cortes is a Puerto Rican bilingual fiction writer, transplant cardiologist, and electrical engineer. His work lives at the crossroads of science and storytelling.

His debut novel, Catharsis, tells the story of a burned-out physician who receives a mysterious letter that reads: “You have one year to live.” Originally written in Spanish and now also available in English, the novel blends speculative fiction, magical realism, and medical themes—set against the vivid backdrop of Puerto Rico.

His second novel, The Many-Worlds of Leonardo Blanco, is an upmarket speculative story exploring misattributed realities, parallel timelines, and a sweeping family saga. It is currently on submission to literary agents. His newest manuscript, The Retrieval, is a high-concept medical thriller that draws on his real-world experience in heart transplantation and surgical ethics, and is also being submitted to agents. Together, these projects reflect his dual passions for emotional storytelling and science-driven suspense.

He currently lives in the Indianapolis area with his family.
